Celluloid Chapter Membership

Criteria

Any adult Indian citizen, who likes films or harbours artistic values, is eligible to become a member of Celluloid Chapter.

There are two stages in membership. A person who is willing to join as a member shall apply with 2 photographs for an Associate Membership for the first financial year. Such a person can be enrolled during any month of the year by paying a pro-rata membership subscription fee in addition to the Annual subscription. His / Her membership will be confirmed after reviewing his / her performance / contribution towards the film society's activities.

Formal membership is offered in the type of Individual or Couple (Husband-Wife): such membership is effective from the month of April to the month of March of the following year. Members enlisted in these two categories are debarred from bringing any guests to the Society's shows. However, Life, Patron and Corporate Members are allowed to bring one or more guests to any show of the Celluloid Chapter depending on the category of membership.

What does Celluloid Chapter offer

  • Bringing and Promoting good films by making members aware of the cinematic values of classic international/ national films.
  • Developing the understanding of film language among the members and people of Jamshedpur by arranging screening of old and new masterpieces.
  • Programmes like seminars, Appreciation Course, workshop to make the people aware of film history, aesthetics, grammar, technique and film study ventures in and outside our country.
  • Nourishing and developing finer senses among people through presentation of cinema, plays, music, painting, dance and other forms of this genre.

Expectations from members

Members are expected to volunteer their services to the intellectual and organizational work of the society. They may write film criticisms for the Chapter's monthly bulletin, Cinephile, or any local Newspaper. They can also help in gathering information on films, directors, et al. They can organise small informal / formal group discussions on films or any other form of arts. They can provide a helping hand in getting sponsors for the various shows organized by the Celluloid Chapter, besides aiding in publications and publicity. Since this is not an elitists' club nor is it a show-house, it is expected of the members that they would tender their cooperation in arrangement of shows, information mailing and other allied activities. Realizing that in spite of its best efforts, mails are not delivered to the members' doorsteps on time due to no lacuna on the Chapter's part, it is suggested that all Celluloid Chapter members remain in direct contact with the organization's office or through email for instant and updated information, exchange of views and valued suggestions.

Payment Norms

Couple and individual members are to pay admission fees only once-at the time of enrolment. Members under these two categories have to deposit their annual subscription by March 31, every year.
