Social Responsibility

As a part of our social commitment, we have been screening socially relevant films as well as organising communication camps in the rural and slum areas, to enlighten those masses about the reasons behind underdevelopment and their possible panacea.

Celluloid Chapter undertakes, on independent initiative, film shows in far-flung rural belts of East Singhbhum. These films have themes on anti-superstition, AIDS and its prevention, literacy, health and sanitation.

As another part of its social campaign, the Celluloid Chapter holds film shows in slum areas along the city's fringes. The movies shown expose concepts of a new world relevant to social excellence. The various Basti Samitis help the Chapter in organizing these shows.

Promoting good Indian Cinema has always been one of the Chapter's major efforts since inception. To carry this spirit forward, debutant filmmakers are invited annually to meet and interact with the audience and Press after the film shows. Their films are screened at several venues in the city and are ensured widespread publicity and media coverage, thus providing an apt platform to these young and talented Indian filmmakers.

Regularly organizing Children's Film Festivals is another vital agenda in the Chapter's itinerary for, such events further open these young and untarnished minds towards wider creative and aesthetic vistas whereby they can see and feel the finer senses of life and discover greater dimensions of communication through which approach to life will be more positive. Training and exposing the young minds to new world views, technologies, socio - political ideology as well as logic to protect their own traditions are taken care of.

Workshops on Visual Media (Painting, Photography and Sculptures) were also organised and these were conducted by eminent people in the trade, like, Prakash Karmakar, Jibon Doloi and others, to make the efforts very effective and popular.
